I got a little braver with the drone today and flew it out of my direct line of sight (flying based on my screen alone). That let me get a little more range and fly out to the point.
I picked up a little mini drone a few months back, and the weather was clear enough today for a quick flight. My skills are terrible (I was mostly focussed on not crashing) and the cinematography is bad as a result. But here’s where I live!
Summer is the best
Finally some warm weather. Had to do a ferry drop off on Galiano of the little one for a sleep over. It just feels like a midday boat ride.
My favourite part of summer is that it stays light out at night. This walk would be pretty perilous in the dark, but it’s so nice when the sun is just starting to set.
Came out even better than I expected! I’ve played around with multiple colour/fabrics with Timbuk2 before, but I opted to go clean and simple with this one… and I love it.
It’s beginning to look at lot like… wait.
The community guitar
It seemed like a perfect night for some pizza, Baxter cuddles and movies.
It’s been a weird day! There was a 3.9 magnitude earthquake in the middle of the night. Didn’t cause any damage, but I didn’t sleep through it either. Then it was snowing earlier as well. Not enough to stay on the ground, but weird times.
I’m always amazed at how he still believes he’s a lap dog.
Really need to get on that fireplace
Daylight savings sucks. Winter in general sucks. Baxter has repeatedly put in requests to move somewhere sunny year-round. He has simple requirements: no colder than 15°C, no hotter than 20°C. Very little rain, maybe some sand to play in.
It’s 4:30, and it’s almost dark out. It hasn’t really been bright all day though, so overcast and gloomy.
Days are too short
I don’t mean that they’re too short as in “there aren’t enough hours in the day”, but rather that there just isn’t enough daylight this time of year. Normally I’d be thinking about booking a holiday someplace sunny and then having that to look forward to, but I’m still not sure if the time is right to attempt international travel.
It’s that time of year where you hear yourself saying “I could really use a nap” a lot. I think I first said it at 7:30 this morning. I’ve played around with timed lighting to help me get up in the morning, and it does help, but it’s still not quite enough. It’s dark when I’m driving the kids to the dock in the morning, and it’s dark when I pick them up at night.
The crazy part is that we’re still a month and a half away from winter solstice. The days are still getting shorter right up until December 21st. Oh, but we have daylight savings to help! Ugh, that should completely throw off everyone for at least a couple of weeks.
I think my dog might be defective
Duck face & cuddles
Slowly trying to get things together
It’s not that things have been in shambles, but things haven’t been as optimal as they could be. Similar to how I work on projects, I’ve been trying to progressively enhance other aspects of life/work.
Running/fitness has been going pretty well. I seem to be able to stick to a once every couple of days schedule, but have slipped a couple of times when the weather has been particularly bad. I was supposed to run this morning, but I had a really poor sleep last night and I’ve been feeling a bit off all day.
I’ve moved most of my blogs and such over to Tumblr. It’s not that I dislike WordPress, in fact I miss it on occasion, but I just can’t be bothered to maintain the installs and migrate my old data. Flyingtroll.com has been live for several years (I seem to think I started in 2003, but it might have even been before that). The earliest entries I’ve got kicking around are from when my oldest son was born.
I need to put something a little more solid up for Industry Interactive, but I just haven’t been satisfied with any of my efforts so far. I may take another swing at it soon.
